SOS Joins Book Club At Saskatoon Public Library

Public Library-wMark your calendars for 7:00 pm on the evening of Thursday, December 11. Come on down and join me at the Frances Morrison Library for some Sketches of Saskatoon fun.

Leah Bruce of the Saskatoon Public Library will be hosting the Thursday evening Book Club gathering in the Gallery on the second floor.

I’ll be sharing some background info on SOS and how it came to be, answering your questions, and joining you in conversation about how we use images to convey a sense of home.

The event is open to all. No advance registration is necessary. Hot coffee will be provided on what might be a chilly winter’s evening.

The library will have several of their loan copies of SOS on hand. I’ll also bring a few copies of the book for sale that evening. They make great seasonal gifts – as do the prints of images from the book. I’ll have a few prints available for purchase as well.

Appearing here is the full SPL promo info for the event. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Patricia Katz: Author Reading

Join us as Patricia Katz reads from her book, Sketches of Saskatoon, and leads a discussion. Stroll along the sunny sidewalks of Saskatoon, relax along the riverside and relish skating outside. We’ll explore Saskatoon through her artwork and discuss how our sense of home is depicted through visual images.

Keep Your Eye On The Prize! It Could Be Yours!

Full Display vertical-wKeep your eye on the prize! It could be yours!

Between now and December 22, each customer at McNally Robinson Booksellers who buys copies of Sketches of Saskatoon will receive, not just an awesome book, but also an entry form for a very special draw.

The winning prize is a 16 x 12 inch print of the book’s front cover image, Saskatoon Panorama. The riverbank image is reproduced in a matte finish on canvas, stretched on a wooden frame, and completely ready to hang.

Draw box-wHere are a few photos of the info display, the books, the draw box, and the prize painting (top shelf) all of which you can check out for yourself at McNally, located at 3130 8th Street here in Saskatoon.

You’ll find this SOS end of aisle display right next to the featured announcements of upcoming events – directly across from the entrance to the Prairie Ink restaurant.

Thanks to Helen and Caroline and the fine folks at McNally for their support of the promotion and for their excellent work on the display.
