Sketches of Saskatoon The Scoop page 4

More Places To Pick Up Your Copies Of SOS

I’m delighted at the reception that the new baby, Sketches of Saskatoon, is getting around the city. In addition to the shops and galleries that I’ve already mentioned here in The Scoop, a number of other local establishments have stocked up their shelves with SOS.

Creative Compliments-wThanks to Ellie at Creative Compliments for her enthusiastic reception to the book. While you’re browsing its pages in her shop at 109 3rd Avenue, be sure to check out the gift baskets and other Christmas goodies on offer.

Indigo Books-wA big shout out to Samantha at Indigo Books (3322 8th Street E) for stocking SOS amongst their December offerings.

U of S Bookstore-w_edited-1And, finally, a vote of thanks to Amanda at the University of Saskatchewan Bookstore for adding SOS to their inventory – making it easy for those on campus to pick up their copies for themselves and others.

Looking For Something Sask Made?

SAskMade Markteplace-wSketches of Saskatoon certainly fits the bill.

All of the images were created here in the city by yours truly.

Each and every image was scanned by the great folks at J&S Picture Frame Warehouse. Thanks, John & Sherry for the digitizing work – and for carrying the books in your shop! You can find their shop at 121D Jessop Avenue.

The narrative in the book was edited by a Saskatchewan born and raised editor by the name of Barbara McNichol. We’ll still claim you as our own, Barbara, even though these days you toast your toes in Tucson!

And, finally, all forty images were teased and cajoled into an awesome layout by a tremendously talented graphic designer – and artist in his own right – Mr. Brian Kachur.

What’s more, if you’re so inclined, you can pick up your copies of the book (along with some great Saskatoon berry tea and chocolates) at the SaskMade Marketplace on 1621 8th Street East!

Thanks Amanda at SaskMade for stocking these great books, so your customers can stuff their stockings with them for Christmas!

SOS on CTV Morning Live

Painting with Jeremy-wSketches of Saskatoon made its first media appearance on the CTV Morning Life Show here in Saskatoon on Wednesday, November 27th.

To spice things up a bit, the producer asked me to teach their hosts (Jeremy, Mike and Heather) a few things about sketching and painting. We had a ton of fun creating a winter snowman scene.

You can enjoy the interview yourself by visiting the CTV Morning Live video archive. Just scroll back through the archive until you find the segment, Sketches of Saskatoon, click on the video and away you go.

Here are a few more photos of everyone in action.

SOS Joins Treats In WDM Gift Shop

WDM-wWhen you’re browsing the gifts and souvenirs in the Gift Shop at the Western Development Museum, you will now find Sketches of Saskatoon in the mix.

Thanks to Gift Shop Manager, Louise, for adding SOS to their pre Christmas line up of goodies.

While you’re out at the WDM enjoying this week’s Festival of Trees, be sure to stop by the shop and check out SOS for yourself. Pick up a copy for yourself and a few more for friends, neighbors, clients, colleagues – past and present – near and far.

SOS Added To The Gift Shop At Mendel Art Gallery

Mendel Art GallerySketches of Saskatoon is now available in the Gift Shop at the Mendel Art Gallery.

It seems only fitting since one of the images in the book features the fountain in the Civic Conservatory that is attached to the gallery. As winter sets in, the conservatory is a great place to get a touch of the tropics.

You can also enjoy a java at Museo Coffee, and of course browse the Gift Shop and pick up your copies of Sketches of Saskatoon. The shop is open from 10 am to 8 pm.

Be sure to say hi to Shop Supervisor, Medoria, who does a great job of stocking the shop with all kinds of perfect gifts.

Collector’s Choice Welcomes Sketches With Open Arms

logoThanks so much to Lissa and Murray, owners of Collector’s Choice Art Gallery, who are including Sketches of Saskatoon in their product offerings at the gallery.

Kind hearted, good humored Lissa and Murray have their fingers on the pulse of the art community in Saskatoon, and were instrumental in encouraging me to bring this book to life. They were as excited and delighted as godparents can be to meet the new baby in person.

You can visit them and pick up your copies of SOS at the gallery located at 625D 1st Avenue North. Say hi for me!

First Sale Headed To Australia

Kangaroo-wWithin the first half hour of my posting the info about the new Sketches of Saskatoon book on Facebook, the first online purchase was made by expat Nicola now living in Kingswood, Australia.

She says she always wanted to be the first in line for a purchase like this. She thinks the book may make her homesick, but will also bring her great pleasure at the same time.

Thanks, Nicola, for your interest and support from halfway around the world!
