A Very Happy Prize Winner

Prize Winner, Jo Garrad

Prize Winner, Jo Garrad

She was excited, and so was I!

It was such fun delivering the Saskatoon Panorama canvas print to prize winner, Jo Garrad of Saskatoon, just two days before Christmas.

Jo’s name was drawn from a total of 68 entries in the pre-Christmas promotion sponsored in partnership with McNally Robinson Booksellers.

Each person who bought a copy of Sketches of Saskatoon at McNally from late November through December 22 was eligible to enter the draw for this 16 x 20” print of the cover image of the book.

Jo relocated here from Australia just a couple of years ago, and was thrilled to receive this print to hang on her Saskatoon walls. She told me she loves Sketches of Saskatoon and the way it presents her new hometown.

Thanks to Helen MacPherson (store manager) and Caroline Walker (consignment coordinator) at McNally for being so supportive of the promotion and for doing such a terrific job of profiling the book and the contest in the store. Helen shared in the fun of making the draw and placing the phone call to the winning entry.

So sorry if yours was not the winning entry, but it’s not too late to get your own prints of any of the images that are featured Sketches of Saskatoon. See this link for more details.

And, of course, it’s never too late to pick up more copies of Sketches of Saskatoon at McNally or online or at many of the other fine retailers who carry it here in Saskatoon.

SOS Still On The Bestseller List – Heading For A Reprint

Bestseller TableIt has been a full six months since the launch of Sketches of Saskatoon.

I’m delighted to report that this ‘little book that could’ continues to hold down a spot on Saskatoon’s McNally Robinson Best Seller’s List.

SOS books at McNallyI took these photos of the Best Seller display table the last time I dropped by McNally’s.

Dropping by to browse is something I tend to do on a regular basis. Like many of you who are tireless readers who appreciate the printed word (and pictures to go with them), I’ve got to have my regular fix of books!

Sketches of Saskatoon is selling well enough, that I am presently getting things lined up for a second printing in the not too distant future.

When we do a second printing, organizations and corporations will have a chance to purchase a quantity supply of the books with their own customized message and logo printed directly on the inside title page.

This link ( SketchesofSaskatoon-Corp Custom Order Form-Katz ) will take you to a page with more details on the upcoming SOS Custom Reprint Option.

McNally SOS Launch A Success

Speaking2-72dpiEvery night at McNally Robinson Booksellers is a good night. This one was doubly good for me, as I launched Sketches of Saskatoon with a Reading and Signing event on December 2nd.

About 30 fine folks turned out for the celebration. They were very excited to see the book for themselves; and many of them took away multiple copies as gifts for friends and family.

I had a great time filling people in on the inspiration for the book, sharing how the images were created, describing what it took to put the pages together, and much much more.

The fine folks over at Grower Direct Florists (Kim, Quinn and the team) sent along a surprise bouquet of flowers to brighten up the night.

And, Marcy, the Special Events coordinator at McNally did her usual excellent job of set up and hosting.

Here are a few more pics from the evening for you to enjoy.
