Back in February of 2016, I celebrated the 30thanniversary of my business by inviting supporters to enter a draw for: a bundle of publications, a donation to a charity of their choice, and an original ink and watercolor sketch inspired by a photo of a place that mattered to them.
The first two prizes were dispatched right away. However, it took the winner of the original sketch, Kristi Glover of Saskatoon, a couple of years to claim her prize.
Life has a way of tossing roadblocks in our path from time to time, but now Kristi has her prize in hand. I was delighted to be able to create for her an original sketch of her family cottage at Waskesiu Lake in Prince Albert National Park. Read more….
Kristi provided me with some reference photos earlier this year, and when I visited Waskesiu this summer, I was able to swing by and see the property for myself. The Glover family has created a beautiful vacation home in a prime location near Prospect Point on the eastern shore of Waskesiu Lake.
When Kristi dropped by to pick up her painting, she was able to share a bit more of the history of the place. The original flat roofed cabin was actually built in the 1950’s by Kristi’s grandpa and uncles. In recent years, her father undertook a renovation, turning the bungalow into a two-story home with a beautiful A-frame insert.
Kristi enjoys many summer weekends at their family getaway, and hopes to hang her original sketch on location.
I’ve painted various watercolor commissions for people capturing their special places and memories. If you have a special place or moment you’d like me to capture in watercolor, drop me a line (pat@patkatzart.com) or give me a call and we can chat about the possibilities.
