In non pandemic times, our Artists’ Workshop group holds our annual spring show and sale at Grace Westminster Church. Since we haven’t been able to do that this year or last, we have a new way to share our art with you. We would like to invite you to our Slow Art Day Window Art Show.
Some artworks will be displayed facing outward in the windows of the two coffee shops and more will be shown indoors, with ample space for viewing safely. Grab a coffee, have a seat outside, or do a slow walk by and discover the art of nine local artists.
City Perks Coffeehouse is located at 801 7th Avenue North and Sparrow Coffee is at #120-536 2nd Avenue North. They offer curbside pick-up, takeout, and patio seating.
Perspective – #6 In The Glimmer Of Hope Series
Perspective is #6 in my Glimmers of Hope Art Series. It was inspired by the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina.
When visiting Boone, NC, for a watercolor painting workshop, I set off early one afternoon to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway. There’s nothing like a little distance to put things in perspective.
5″ x 5″ original watercolor on paper. Mounted on 6″ x 6″ mat board.
Price: $50 (plus $5 to cover tax & postage). The painting will go to the first person to express their interest in purchasing via email to: pat@patkatz.com.
Glimmer of Hope: the belief that there is a slight chance that something positive will happen.
Backstory: This pandemic of 2020 has put a huge dint in our lives – restricting our ability to gather, to travel, and to feel safe and at ease in the world.
I look forward to a time when once again we will feel free to roam and engage with confidence. Until then, it seems we’re destined to gaze longingly through our respective windows on the world, sustained by patience and hope.
To help us get through this final month of what seems like a very long year, I’ve created 31 original paintings in a series called, Glimmers of Hope.

Welcome to my online Café Series Art Show & Sale. Over the last few months, I’ve created a series of paintings that reflects the joy of relaxing with a coffee or tea at hand – sometimes with a sweet treat, other times with a pen and journal, and often with a blossom or two. The images celebrate experiences of connection, conversation, and reflection.
All of the images were painted with watercolor and ink on stretched 10 x 10 canvas. They’ve been sealed with a spray varnish so there’s no need to protect them under glass. They are fitted with hanging wire and ready to go on your wall.
The plan was to introduce this series at our Artists’ Workshop Spring Show. However with the cancellation of our show due to the Covid 19 situation, that was not possible. Instead, I’m presenting this limited set of nine original images in the form of a virtual gallery.
Each painting is priced at $300 (including all taxes and distanced doorstep delivery within Saskatoon). For buyers beyond the city, additional shipping will be billed at cost.
The images are officially available for purchase as of now until noon on Saturday, May 9.
To request a painting, contact me in one of two ways sharing your full name, complete address, phone number, preferred form of payment and your first and/or second choice of painting:
- Via email at pat@patkatzart.com
- Or via phone at 306 934 1807
Offers to purchase will be accepted in the order in which they are received. Payment can be made by e-transfer or credit card.
Saskatoon deliveries will take place between noon and 3 pm on Saturday, May 9 – just in time for Mother’s Day.
Read on to view a larger image of each painting, read a short description, and check its number in the series. In the 3×3 grid, the paintings are numbered in order from left to right, top to bottom. (As in #1 is top left and #9 is bottom right)
I hope you enjoy exploring the Café Series, and that these paintings will all find their way to their new forever homes.

For the last few summers, I’ve been sharing Saturday morning adventures with the Saskatoon Plein Air group.
This month, Hues Art Supply (which acts as headquarters for the Plein Air group) is sponsoring a Plein Air members’ group show.
I have a couple of pieces in the show, as do two of my plein air painting colleagues from the Artists’ Workshop.
The show is up the entire month of August, so do drop in and have a look as you make your way around town.
If you’re visiting the Prairieland Summer Exhibition, Hues, at 1818 Lorne Ave, is in the neighborhood.
If you’d like to chat with a few of the artists about our work, we’ll be hosting a reception at Hues on Saturday, August 17th between 2 and 4 pm.
We love to talk about making art outdoors – that’s almost as fun as painting itself!
This image to the right is a pic of some of the members of our group at our Saturday morning expedition to the Marr House.
It was a fine day for outdoor art!
