‘CARE FOR A CUPPA?’ SOLO ART SHOW – CITY PERKS COFFEEHOUSE – AUTUMN 2021
‘Care For A Cuppa?’
The Exhibition
As of Friday, October 1st, my second solo art show for 2021 is up and open for viewing.
‘Care For A Cuppa’ is appearing at City Perks Coffeehouse here in Saskatoon ( 801 7th Avenue N). The show consists of 22 works – all in watercolor on canvas.
Here’s the backstory to the exhibit followed by all the details you need to know about the show.
☙❦❧
“The prospect of a hot cuppa tea, coffee, or chocolate is one of life’s great comforts and delights. It’s a treat to be savored at home, in a local coffee shop, and at bistros halfway around the world.
A solo cuppa invites reflection and contemplation. A shared cuppa offers hospitality and community.
No matter the setting or the beverage, stopping for a cuppa lets us step away from our busy-ness.
And in that pause, we are gifted with the opportunity to sink into the moment and appreciate life while we enjoy the company of ourselves and others.
This exhibit captures those moments and the memories that accompany them.”
Here are a few more things to know about the show:
- All artworks are watercolor on canvas sealed and protected with varnish. Sizes range from 10″ x 10″ up to 20″ x 20″.
- Titles, sizes & pricing details are posted on the tags beside each painting.
- All works are available for purchase directly from the artist in one of these ways: Email: pat@patkatzart.com or Ph/Text: 306-221-8663
- The show will be up from October 1 through November 30.
WANT TO SEE THE SHOW ONLINE? This link will take you to the full collection of images that features individual descriptions, along with the backstory, and details regarding size and pricing.
And, wait….there’s more!!! If you are one of the first three people to purchase a piece from the show, I will personally treat you to a ‘cuppa’ of your choice (along with a sweet treat). Pandemic willing, we can meet at City Perks at a mutually agreeable time for a sip and chat about the show, art, and life in general.
‘LANTERNS OF THE WORLD’ Solo Show & Sale – Brainsport Gallery – July 2021
And it’s up! I spent a couple of hours on Monday of this week – with the help of my able ‘studio assistant’/husband, David – hanging my Lanterns Of The World show.
This collection is my contribution to shining a little light in this pandemic battered world of ours.
My first solo public exhibit is open now and can be enjoyed throughout the month of July at the Brainsport Gallery off Broadway in Saskatoon – 616 10th St E.
Take in the show and treat yourself to Beppi’s Gelato – situated right next door. That’s what we did after we hung the paintings earlier this week!
An informal ‘Meet The Artist’ is tentatively scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, July 17th – pandemic willing and the creeks don’t rise!
All works are available for purchase directly from the artist. Details are on the tags posted beside each painting.
I hope you are able to visit the show and enjoy the work.
SLOW ART DAY – WINDOW ART SHOW – CITY PERKS & SPARROW COFFEE SHOPS – APRIL 2021
In non pandemic times, our Artists’ Workshop group holds our annual spring show and sale at Grace Westminster Church. Since we haven’t been able to do that this year or last, we have a new way to share our art with you. We would like to invite you to our Slow Art Day Window Art Show.
Some artworks will be displayed facing outward in the windows of the two coffee shops and more will be shown indoors, with ample space for viewing safely. Grab a coffee, have a seat outside, or do a slow walk by and discover the art of nine local artists.
City Perks Coffeehouse is located at 801 7th Avenue North and Sparrow Coffee is at #120-536 2nd Avenue North. They offer curbside pick-up, takeout, and patio seating.
PLEIN AIR GROUP SHOW AT HUE’S – AUGUST 2019
For the last few summers, I’ve been sharing Saturday morning adventures with the Saskatoon Plein Air group.
This month, Hues Art Supply (which acts as headquarters for the Plein Air group) is sponsoring a Plein Air members’ show.
I have a couple of pieces in the show, as do two of my plein air painting colleagues from the Artists’ Workshop.
The show is up the entire month of August, so do drop in and have a look as you make your way around town (maybe this week if you’re visiting the Summer Exhibition as Hues, at 1818 Lorne Ave, is in the neighborhood).
If you’d like to chat with a few of the artists about our work, we’ll be hosting a reception at Hues on Saturday, August 17th between 2 and 4 pm.
We love to talk about making art outdoors – that’s almost as fun as painting itself!

SPLASH & SQUIGGLE INK & WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP – AUGUST 2018
I’m stepping out and delivering my first ‘open to the public’ art workshop this summer at Black Spruce Gallery in Northside Antiques on Highway #2, just south of Christopher and Emma Lake.
The one day workshop will run from 9 am to 3:30 pm on Friday, August 10th, 2018.
If you want to learn more about painting lively, light-hearted, colorful ink and watercolor sketches, this workshop is for you. I will be sharing a sampling of the techniques I use to create my whimsical, colorful vignettes of the world.
You’ll be treated to a series of ‘See & Try’ experiences – brief demos followed by hands on experiments. There will be no pressure to create a grand masterpiece – just an invitation to explore and enjoy.
- Using continuous line contour drawings to loosen up and warm up
- Cultivating the art of noticing as a way to breathe more life into your images
- Creating dynamic lines and taking a creep ‘n’ crawl approach to composition
- Playing with an Elegant Writer to produce fun and easy images
- Mixing and applying watercolors in ways that keep them fresh and lively (using place ‘n’ pull and toss ‘n’ tease techniques)
- Combining watercolor splashes with ink lines – for contrast and emphasis
Morning instruction will be held in the classroom and (weather permitting) the afternoon session will take place en plein air (in the great outdoors).
Instructional Level: Some prior experience with watercolors will be an asset, but is not essential. Instruction will be geared to Beginner/Intermediate levels.
The workshop fee will be $125 for the day with lunch included. This link will take you to complete details on my session (and other workshops being offered this summer at Black Spruce Gallery), as well as a materials list and an online form for registering for the workshop.
I hope to see you there!
