SOS Stepping Out In Style

Sketches of Sbow tie orange-waskatoon – all dressed up in its finest – put in an appearance at last weekend’s Mayor’s Cultural Gala.

The Gala is the premiere fund-raising event in support the fine work of the Saskatoon Community Foundation.

Since its inception eight years ago, the event has raised over $2.5 million and provided funds to support over 150 charity grants annually.

This year’s event had a ‘Home Grown’ theme – featuring Saskatoon based talent.

Attendees at the gala were gifted with their very own copies of Sketches of Saskatoon. What could be more home grown that a collection of sketches of this beautiful city created by a fellow Saskatonian?

I am delighted to be able to put SOS to work in the service of supporting charities who do such great work to keep Saskatoon shining.

More Places To Pick Up Your Copies of SOS

Berry Barn-wThanks so much to Natalie Erlandson, Manager of the Saskatoon Berry Barn on Valley Road, for stocking copies of Sketches of Saskatoon in the gift shop for the summer.

The Berry Barn is a very popular place for the locals to take guests and visitors for a taste of the country that’s close to the city. I’m a big fan of their Borscht and of course their Saskatoon Berry Pie. Ask for yours with an ice cold scoop of ice cream.

hues_logo-wThanks, also, to Paul Trottier owner of Hues Art Supply at 1818 Lorne Avenue here in Saskatoon for making copies of Sketches of Saskatoon available to his customers and clients. Hues is the ‘new kid on the block’ when it comes to art supply shops in the city, and is already very popular with Saskatoon artists.

In addition to art supplies, Paul’s shop serves as a gallery for the work of local artists and is fast becoming a hot-spot for how-to art workshops and classes. Paul, himself, is a member of the renowned Saskatchewan based artist’s group,  Men Who Paint.

SOS Still On The Bestseller List – Heading For A Reprint

Bestseller TableIt has been a full six months since the launch of Sketches of Saskatoon.

I’m delighted to report that this ‘little book that could’ continues to hold down a spot on Saskatoon’s McNally Robinson Best Seller’s List.

SOS books at McNallyI took these photos of the Best Seller display table the last time I dropped by McNally’s.

Dropping by to browse is something I tend to do on a regular basis. Like many of you who are tireless readers who appreciate the printed word (and pictures to go with them), I’ve got to have my regular fix of books!

Sketches of Saskatoon is selling well enough, that I am presently getting things lined up for a second printing in the not too distant future.

When we do a second printing, organizations and corporations will have a chance to purchase a quantity supply of the books with their own customized message and logo printed directly on the inside title page.

This link ( SketchesofSaskatoon-Corp Custom Order Form-Katz ) will take you to a page with more details on the upcoming SOS Custom Reprint Option.
