This year, HUES Art Supply in Saskatoon is marking its tenth anniversary of providing art materials and quality instruction for local artists.
To celebrate a decade of fostering creativity in the community, they are sponsoring a ten month series of workshops resourced by Saskatchewan artists who have contributed to the local artistic landscape.
I’m delighted to be included in this list of illustrious instructors – along with (so far) – Carole Wylie, Cam Forrester, Paul Trottier, Cheryl Tuck Tallon, Jackie Miller & Monique Blom.
On Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, I’ll be delivering a one-day five-hour workshop at Hues focusing on Travel Sketching With Ink & Watercolor.
This link will take you to the information and registration page that details how to join in the fun. Feel free to share the link with others who might also be interested.
Be sure to watch for announcements of more of the 10th Anniversary Workshop Sessions as they are scheduled in the weeks ahead.

La Palette, a famed historic bistro at the corner of Rue Jacques-Callot and Rue de Seine in Paris, has a storied past as a gathering spot for art students.
It’s reported that Cezanne, Picasso and Braque were also frequent patrons.
Step inside and you will find a variety of palettes and paintings adorning the walls above and around the bar.
It’s an interesting place with tons of atmosphere. It’s also a complicated building to capture in a sketch with its varied awnings and angles. There’s just a whole lot going on in the scene.

It seems like I just posted a message like this recently, but here we go again.
I will be delivering another offering of Sketching With Ink & Watercolor this fall through the Community Arts program at the University of Saskatchewan.
This link will take you to the page with complete program details and online registration.
Registration just opened this morning, and spots are going quickly. When I checked a few minutes ago, there were still 3 open spots for students.
The class will presented in five (3-hour) sessions (once a week on Wednesday evenings) spread out over a month from November 9 through December 7
The series is designed for artists and would be artists who are attracted to expressive line work and lively colors and keen to create images inspired by everyday life experiences.
We will work with ink and watercolor on paper, and engage in a series of ‘see & try’ experiences – brief demos followed by hands-on exercises and assignments.
The aim: to build a set of skills to help people capture vignettes on paper wherever they find them – from their own backyards to street cafés halfway around the world.
These are some of the topics we will cover:
