On the last weekend in April, our Artists’ Workshop group will throw open the doors and share an enthusiastic welcome to our Annual Spring Show & Sale.
I thought I’d share a sneak peek at what you will find in my collection of paintings this year, as well as the general details for the show.
As many of you know, last year was a tough one with my husband’s advancing illness through the fall and passing in late October.
Gathering small bouquets from the garden and bringing them to our Monday painting sessions was about all I could manage.
You’ll find a collection of ten 6×8 posies that I created during that time – pretty florals with simple backgrounds.
Since the new year, I’ve returned to the whimsical villages theme that I started exploring last year. They’re lighthearted, and I needed a little joy and levity in my life.
Most of the village scenes are sized 10″ x 20″ and mounted on cradle panel.
Travel sketching was pretty much out of the question last year, given our family situation, but I did flip back through sketchbooks from previous years and harvested a few pieces that you will see presented in the show.
Some of my works are presented in the traditional way – matted, and framed under glass. Most are mounted on gallery cradle board with a varnish and wax finish – no glass required.
Mine is certainly not the only work to be enjoyed that weekend. At the show you’ll find original works created by all twelve of our members including: Celeste Dumonceaux Delahey, Jean Dudley, Kathleen Slavin, Anne Simmie, Val Miles, Wendy McLeod, Paige Mortenson, Sharron Schoenfeld, Leslie Stadnichuk, Jill Scott, Betty Gibbon, and me.
We create in a variety of media: acrylic, oil, watercolor, mixed media, ink and watercolor, pastels, glass, and watercolor batik.
‘Passages’ is our theme for 2026. Unique to this year’s show will be a set of 11×14 works featuring twelve different points of view illustrating the ‘Passages’ theme.
To further whet your appetite, you’ll find a visual sampler featuring one image from each of our member artists posted at the end of this message.
The event will be held at Grace-Westminster Church (505 10th St E in Saskatoon)
Friday, April 24 (5-9)
Saturday, April 25 (10-5)
Sunday, April 26 (11-4).
We hope you will be able to visit us at the show. We so look forward to connecting with you in person.

Dear Pat,
My deepest and most heartfelt condolences on the loss of your hubby.
I worked briefly with him during my time with Post-Secondary Education and again with Economy. He was always encouraging and kind in his dealings with me as an admin assistant.

Rose. Thank you for your kind words and remembrances. When he retired at the end of his career, he always said it was the people connections that he missed most. He is dearly missed in my world. It helps to know that others share that feeling. Appreciatively, Pat
